God’s gift
Last night as husband and I were doing our night routine of getting to sleep (me: watch boring birthing videos; him: scroll down fb on his phone) he suddenly looked at me and smiled.
“What.”I muttered.
“ I’m going to miss seeing you pregnant.” He said sweetly
“And all ugly,” I continued, trying to crack a joke to avoid myself from tearing. That was surprisingly touching of him to say. And despite the pains, I did feel like I was gonna miss being pregnant and spoilt rotten. But hey, there’s always a next baby right?
“ You know, you have been given the best gift from Allah,” he rubbed my belly gently.
“ What do you mean best gift?” I frowned. I mean, I understand that it’s a blessing but yet it can also be a challenge. And surely there are other forms of gifts from The Almighty which are high up there too.
“ Because our son will be the one who’s going to pray for you when you’re in the grave. And besides, when your mom is alone, who’s normally there to keep her company? You always teman her, what. That’s why he is the best gift.” He pointed to my belly.
I stared at husband fondly.
